The role of women in video games mirrors how they are viewed and valued in society. Women’s role in games has changed drastically, from an objectified role in the early days of gaming, to a more active and participant role. However, female characters continue to be objectified and sexualized with unrealistic body types that would realistically be impossible for them to perform physically demanding stunts with such a build. This panel highlights changes that can be implemented to the gaming industry if women are to be active, participating characters and not be objectified or valued for physical characteristics alone.
